About Me
Johanna Minassian
I was first introduced to Yoga in my twenties but it wasn’t until I had a family (husband and 3 boys) that
Yoga actually became my calling.
As a family we practiced once a week with a yogi who taught kid yoga. We did it for one whole summer. The benefits I witnessed in my two older boys and husband convinced me of the many great benefits Yoga can have on young minds.
It calmed my 6 year old, it strengthened my 4 year old and decompressed my husband after a long day at work. It also gave our a family an hour to meditate and center ourselves, both individually and collectively.
As a result, I decided to get certified as a yoga instructor and have been on this journey ever since. My yoga practice is fun and interactive.
My focus isn’t to have kids memorize yoga poses but to learn to breath, stretch and be mindful of one another, all while practicing yoga moves unconsciously. As the kids grow, my yoga technique grows with them. And to be honest, I grow with them. Each child is so special. I see this with my three boys. Each one is unique with their own personalities and likes and dislikes. But they all want to same things to be loved and made to feel special. I go out of my way to make sure each one of my children and students feels loved. All kids have the same need to be respected and heard and I aim to teach them yoga with lots of love and praise. Yoga isn't a competitive sport. It's more of an exercise of the mind and body moving together. I like to think that the time I have with the kids is sacred hour where they all feel safe, loved and supported.
